From a full implementation of a new reporting system, to help with cleaning up charts of accounts or product categories, I can lend a hand to most data, system and reporting related issues.
I can work with your existing team or as a standalone resource depending on your requirements. Typical activities will include –
- Master Data Management. Making sure there is consistent use of GL Accounts, product/SKU codes, customer and supplier data etc across the organisation. Where any remediation occurs, ensuring associated data cleansing and re-statement of key reports is actioned.
- Systems Analysis. Undertaking work to understand how a system is configured and is being used. Working to fix problems and providing training in the event of user issues. Liaison with vendors for more complex issues.
- Spreadsheet Hell (rescue from!). Many organisations have become too reliant on Excel for mission critical functions. Data will be copied from source systems and used across many files usually with high levels of duplication. Lack of control is common, with versioning, inconsistent formulae and master look ups all causing problems. I will work with you to analyse the BAU and streamline/consolidate your spreadsheets into a more controllable process.
- Single Source of the Truth. A common grievance across firms is that one report will give one answer, whilst another report may give a conflicting answer. This is often the result of all the issues above combining. It can difficult for management to understand where the true narrative lies and makes planning and strategy difficult. Fixing long standing data, system and process issues usually gets us to a single set of metrics which everyone can agree on.
